JUAN ROMERO- JRBC DIRECTOR/COACH

Coach Romero has over 50 years experience in Southwest Florida Baseball Programs both as a player and as a coach.


His accomplishments include:

*Tampa Bay Rays Associate Scout, 2016-present

*St. John Neumann HS Head Varsity Coach, 2016-2018

*New York Mets Associate Scout, 2006-2007

*Florida Gulf Coast University, Assistant Coach, 2004-2006

*Pittsburgh Pirates Associate Scout, 1999-2005

*Chicago White Sox Associate Scout, 1997

*Houston Astros Associate Scout, 1994-1996

*Lely HS Head Varsity Baseball Coach, 1984-1997

*Coach of the 1989 State Champion Lely Trojans

*SWFL Travel Clubs, 1999-2003

*1989 Florida Class 3A Coach of the Year

*Southwest Florida Coach of the Year, 1988 and 1989

*Over 400 victories to his credit at the HS and College levels.

*Has coached over 150 players who have competed at the college and professional ranks, including MLB pitchers Chris Resop, Casey Coleman and Richard Bleier.

  • Cleveland Indians Assistant Hitting  Coach (2018 AL Central Champions). A former Boston Red Sox Coach (WS Champs, 2014), Victor played with the Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins. He signed his first professional contract at age 16 in his native Puerto Rico.

  • 2018 International Scout and Coach of the Houston Astros. Carlos played with the Astros and the Reds organizations, and has managed and coached with many clubs; including long stints as the SF Giants MLB pitching and 1st base coach. He was also  the International Scouting Director of the Rays.

  • Former 1st round draft pick of the Seattle Mariners organization, Rudy coached as a  bullpen catcher and batting practice pitcher with the NY Yankees (WS Champ, 1996) and with the Baltimore Orioles. Also played at Miami Sr. HS & Miami-Dade South.

  • This veteran JRBC instructor played in the Houston Astros organization. Formerly an Assistant Coach at Ave Maria University and former Head Coach at St. John Neumann HS. Current Athletic Director at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic School.

  • 2019 SF Giants Arizona League Manager. Played at Sanford University and was in the  Chicago White Sox system  both as a player and as a coach before working with the San Francisco organization. Michael, a Gulf Coast HS grad, is a former JRBC camper.

  • Naples HS Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach. Former pitcher in the Boston Red Sox and Texas Rangers organizations. Tim, who had an extensive career in pro independent leagues, played college baseball at U Conn and locally with Gulf Coast LL.

  • The winningest baseball coach in the history of Collier County, Smitty led the BCHS Cougars to the State title in 1997.  Among his numerous accolades is his induction into the Pennsylvania HS Hall of Fame. He has also coached countless players that have played college and/or professional baseball.

  • This legend, a five time MLB All-Star, is an inductee of the Kansas City Royals, the Cuban, and the Latin American Halls of Fame. Formerly the manager of the Angels  and a  coach with multiple MLB teams, he was also a Marlins broadcaster. Cookie has been a beloved speaker and coach of the JRBC for over 14 years.

  • Current Manager of the Port Charlotte Stone Crabs. Former Minnesota Twins 1st Base Coach, Manager of  the Fort Myers Miracle, the Beloit Snappers and the New Britain MudCats. Jeff, a Naples HS and Stetson University grad, played with the Twins, Red Sox and Rangers farm system as high as AAA.

  • First Naples athlete to play in the Majors.  Cali, a pitcher with the Cardinals, Twins and the Dodgers, also played at Florida Atlantic University. Carmen, a Naples HS grad, attended the first ever JRBC event at age 10 in 1988.

  • A 4th round draft pick from BCHS, he pitched at the MLB level with the Marlins, Braves, Pirates, Athletics and Angels. In addition, he was a hurler in Japan for two years.  Chris also attended the JRBC multiple times  as a camper since age 6.

  • Former MLB pitcher with the Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers. Don currently works with the Scott Boras group and helps professional players with their personal lives. He is a frequent JRBC keynote speaker.
