FORMER JRBC CAMPERS IN PRO BASEBALL

Carmen Cali - First Collier County athlete to play in the majors (2004) ... St. Louis Cardinals.  Currently pitching with the Twins.  Carmen is a 1997 Naples High School grad that also played at Florida Atlantic University (FAU). 

Mark Cardillo - Infielder in the Italian League (Milan) in 2005, 2006.  Mark also played for Coach Romero as a member of the Naples Select Travel Team in 2000.  He also played for the villanova Wildcats.

Chris Resop - Currently with the LA Angels.  Has pitched at the ML level with the Florida Marlins in 2005 and 2006.  Chris also played for Coach Romero as a member of the Naples Select Travel Team in 2000.  He had a scholarship offer to the University of Miami.

Bobby Spano - Former Florida Marlins infielder (A).  Bobby also played for Coach Romero as a member of the Junior Olympics Collier County Team in 1996.  A graduate of Barron Collier HS, he also played at Florida State and FAU.

MAJOR LEAGUE PLAYERS/COACHES
WHO HAVE CONTRIBUTED SINCE 1988

Carlos Alfonso - Tampa Bay Devil Rays Director of International Operations, former ML coach of the SF Giants.  Has 40 years experience in pro baseball as a player/coach.

Don Carman - Former pitcher with Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Texas Rangers.  Currently working with ML players as an assistant to Scott Boras.

Marty Castillo - Third baseman/catcher with the World Champion 1984 Detroit Tigers.

Gene Clines - Outfielder with the World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates in 1971.  Also played for the Mets, Cubs, and Rangers.  Has coached at the ML level with the Cubs, Giants, and Mariners.  Current instructor with the Dodgers.

Bobby Estalella - Former catcher with the Phillies, Giants, Rockies, and Yankees.

Jeff Montgomery - KC Royals closer for many years.  Elected to the Kansas City Hall of Fame.

Lance Niekro - Current SF Giants 1B.  Son of the late Joe Niekro, former ML pitcher inducted in the Texas Hall of Fame.  Nephew of Cooperstown Hall of Fame Pitcher Phil Niekro.

Ariel Prieto - Former Oakland A's pitcher...a first round selection in the June draft.  He also played on the Cuban National Team.

Eric Rasmussen - Former pitcher with the Cardinals, Padres, and Royals.  Currently coaching with the Minnesota Twins organization.

Chris Resop - A graduate of the JRBC, the pride of Barron Collier HS and the entire Naples community, Chris has pitched for the Florida Marlins the last two seasons.  Resop is currently under contract with the LA Angels.

Chuck Ricci - Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher.  He has also scouted for Cleveland.

Victor Rodriguez -  Current Boston Red Sox Minor League Hitting Coach.  Former INF with the Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins.

Cookie Rojas - Has over 45 years of experience in a distinguished career as a player/coach.  Played 2B with the Reds, Cardinals, Royals and Cubs.  Managed the Angels and has coached with the Mets (2000 World Series), Marlins,, Cubs and Blue Jays.  Current voice of the Florida Marlins Spanish TV broadcast team.

Dr. KC Wise - Former INF with the Milwaukee Braves, Cubs, and tigers.  Played in 1958 World Series as a member of the Braves.


MINOR PLAYERS/COACHES THAT HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE JRBC SINCE 1988

Ted Corbin - AAA Minnesota Twins SS.  A 1989 Barron Collier HS grad, Ted also played at Clemson and at Auburn while in college.

Greg David - Toronto Blue Jays First Round Draft Pick in June draft (1985).  Also played in San Diego Padres organization and advanced to AAA.  Greg played for Coach Romero as a member of the 1982 JV team at Barron Collier HS.

Ronnie Deck - AA TB Devil Rays catcher.  Current coach at Northeastern Colorado CC.

Jim Gaitin - AAA Cincinnati Reds catcher.

Johnny Gordon - A Detroit Tigers OF.  A 1994 graduate of Lely HS, Johnny also played three years of varsity baseball for Coach Romero.

David Guthrie - AA Cincinnati Reds INF.  Former SS at NC State.  Current NBA referee.

Jeff Smith - AAA Catcher for the Twins, Red Sox, and Rangers.  Current manager for the Beloit Snappers (Twins organization).

Joe Sadelfeld - Pitcher in the SF Giants organization.  Gold Medalist in the 1967 Pan Am Games held in Canada.  Baseball and basketball star at Ohio State University.

Tom Tyler - AAA Pitcher with KC Royals and NY Mets.
